GB Mail Upgrades Paper Wrapping Lines with Norwix Inkjet Technology from E&B
GB Mail, an Aylesbury based high-volume mail and print service provider, has invested in two cutting-edge Norwix Inkjet Systems, supplied by UK equipment specialists Engelmann & Buckham (E&B).
These systems have been integrated into GB Mail’s existing paper wrapping lines, significantly improving production efficiency, reducing ink costs, and underscoring the company’s commitment to continuous investment and innovation.
Founded in 2017 by long term industry experts Gary Leonard-Pepin, Ben Taheri and their partner Joseph Ghadami, GB Mail has built a resilient and adaptable operation. Over one million items are mailed per week across a balanced mix of envelope enclosing and paper wrapping. The company employs a strong team of 28 skilled operatives, many of whom have been with the business long-term, maintaining a high standard of service and machine uptime.
The new Norwix inkjet systems—comprising the Norwix UC22 HP TIJ 4.0 and Norwix MPP4 HP TIJ 2.5—have already proven transformative. “The new inkjet systems on the paper wrapping machines have enabled us to smash all previous production records,” says Leonard-Pepin. “Previous jobs that would have taken four days can now be completed in just two and a half. We wish we had made the move sooner.”
Key Benefits Realised from the Investment Include:
• 20% Faster Production: Greater throughput thanks to high-speed print capabilities.
• Reduced Downtime: Changeover times cut from up to two hours with older CIJ systems to as little as one minute.
• Lower Operating Costs: Bulk-fed cartridges and maintenance-free design led to lower running costs.
• Enhanced Print Quality: Up to 1,200 dpi resolution for high precision 2D barcode printing including Royal Mail Mailmark.
• Increased Capacity: Higher line speeds (up to 732 m/min) and a 7mm throw distance improve flexibility and workflow.
The decision to upgrade stemmed from GB Mail’s desire to demonstrate a continued commitment to its customers and modernise its production lines. “We’ve invested in new equipment from day one,” says Leonard-Pepin. “These latest additions help us deliver faster, more cost-efficient solutions—exactly what our clients need.” Engelmann & Buckham has now installed over 25 Norwix systems across the UK, replacing many outdated CIJ systems in mailing and print operations. “GB Mail exemplifies a forward-thinking business that truly understands the value of investing in efficiency,” said Richard MacLean Sales Director at E&B. “We’re proud to support their growth with proven Norwix solutions.” Looking Ahead GB Mail has had a strong start to 2025, onboarding several new clients and undertaking major projects.
The company plans further investment to support growing demand and increase capacity for their ever-growing customer base.
