The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) – an executive agency and trading fund of the UK Government’s Cabinet Office – has launched an interactive catalogue of supplier offers amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Government has already received thousands of offers from suppliers across the UK to provide a multitude of goods and services to the public sector to aid in the response to COVID-19.
Given the complexities and demand placed on the public sector, CCS has compiled a supplier catalogue to help match offers of support with buyers’ needs. All the suppliers listed in the catalogue will have been contacted by CCS to provide more detail on what they can offer, if necessary.
Goods and services offered have been categorised by what is on offer and by region. Government buyers are then able to use the catalogue to find suppliers who can meet their needs.
CCS plays an important role helping the UK public sector save money when buying common goods and services.
It’s the biggest public procurement organisation in the UK and uses its commercial experience to help buyers in Government, and across the public and third sectors, to purchase everything from facilities management, serve providers and temporary staff – to name just a few.
The collective purchasing power of CCS customers, couple with its procurement knowledge, means it can achieve the best commercial deals in the interests of taxpayers.
Procurement regulations oblige public sector bodies to tender (seek bids) from suppliers when they want to buy goods and services above a certain value. Buying through CCS complies with procurement regulations but simplifies the process for buyers.
CCS’ commercial agreements have standardised contract terms and guidance for buyers. Its service is free to use for public sector and third sector organisations; for example, local authorities, charities, and housing associations.
