Piab: Three new bag gripping products

Automation-specialist Piab has introduced three new bag gripping products for industrial robotic palletising and de-palletising operations.

The bag grippers come in three versions: fixed bag width (FBG), adjustable bag width (ABG), and servo adjustable bag width (SBG).

Piab’s FBG model can be adjusted within four minutes and is ideal for users who only handle a few bag sizes. The ABG version, meanwhile, can be adjusted with just 30 seconds and is for low to medium frequency of bag changes. The flagship SBG model, though, can be adjusted within just a few seconds and is suitable for medium to high frequency of bag changes.

For all models, independent decking plates square-up and align the bag for precise and tight placement on the pallet. Top mounted clamps maintain the end of arm tooling (EOAT) position during robot travel to the pallet, which also allows for high speed and precision. Slip sheet and pallet hook options are available to increase the flexibility even further.

The company has created digital 3D models of each version, which can be tested virtually for compatibility with all industry robots.
