Print-and-apply system meets logistics needs of reliability, connectivity and faster print speeds

Feedback from customer testing in three European counties has underlined two particular benefits of the Mx-Series print-and-apply labellers for logistics applications, newly launched by Domino Printing Sciences: their high-speed variable print capabilities and fast, accurate data sharing.

Domino says it developed the system with fully integrated, automated traceability and GSI-compliant coding of products and pallets in mind. Extended customer testing took place on sites in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.

According to Domino, variable data printing on the Mx-Series is “up to 10 times faster” than previous-generation systems. Designed to meet European Standards, the labellers offer Industry 4.0 connectivity, as well as a range of specific connectivity and configuration options. These include machine vision for automated code inspection and validation, and coding automation for enhanced data sharing, including across factory manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP).

Domino customer operations and site director Jan Lindgren emphasises industry requirements for reliability, accuracy and consistency. “Our industry 4.0-ready Mx-Series print-and-apply labellers have been created in recognition of this need, providing fully-variable data coding, with labels printed to exact customer specifications, and connectivity options to enable seamless sharing with supply chain partners,” he says.

Printers in the range are said to have a smaller footprint than previous-generation print-and-apply systems, and have been designed to suit different production environments. Both left- and right-hand variants are available, with options for 4” and 6” printheads, tamp or swing applicators. Domino says it will announce further opportunities for customisation, including additional types of applicator and new options for connectivity, over the coming months.
