A combination of digital tools, including RFID, weight scales and optical recognition, with real-time dashboard visibility can transform efficiency, says specialist in fasteners Fabory.
In the fast-paced manufacturing industry, says the supplier, efficient inventory management is essential for seamless production and cost control. Production teams face challenges such as unexpected stockouts, labour-intensive tracking, and costly downtime. As a result, it claims, digital solutions have become an indispensable tool for delivering the speed and precision often absent in traditional inventory management.
The company’s MyFabory Insights works in tandem with advanced digital tools including Fabory Logic RFID, Optical Recognition, and Weight Scale proprietary solutions. This combination provides real-time transparency, automation, and precise control, Fabory says, helping teams minimise disruptions and maintain operational flow.
As solutions engineer Paul Green explains, teams can see all of the data on a single dashboard. “This means they can make quick, confident decisions, knowing they’ve got the latest information at their fingertips.”
The platform includes features such as Fabory’s VMI (vendor-managed inventory) Monitor, which updates stock data every 15 minutes, ensuring real-time accuracy. Combined with its VMI and CMI (customer-managed inventory) Monitors, the capabilities of MyFabory Insights include: real-time data access; automated alerts; and custom reporting.
Marketing manager Steve Roberts underscores the system’s ability to ensure manufacturers are never out of stock of the products they need. “We take the usage data and keep a minimum stock of the items required,” he says. “We use predictive analytics to ensure orders are placed with our supplier well in advance of when the usage data informs that an order will be due, taking leadtimes into account to ensure there is no delay for the customer and preventing line stops.”
He explains that the Logic RFID works by collecting data from the empty box and automatically placing a new order, while the weight scales work on the basis of maximum and minimum levels, prompting a new order when the minimum weight is reached.
“We will be introducing two further products in the Logic range in 2025, too, as we are always innovating, and also looking for AI integration,” Roberts adds.
